Quatre ans après Frank, son premier album, Amy Winehouse, meilleure artiste féminine aux Brit Awards 2007, revient sur le devant de la scène avec un très attendu nouvel et deuxième album studio de grande qualité, intitulé Back To Black.Le premier album de l'artiste intitulé Frank est édité en France en deux versions. Il y a deux ans, en pleine promotion de cet album , certifié disque de platine, Amy Winehouse a commencé à penser à ce qu'elle aimerait faire avec son deuxième disque.

Frank était son grand début, un premier album de rupture franc et direct, avec une maturité dans la façon de chanter qui savait toujours rester douce. Frank lui a fait acquérir de nombreux fans dans le monde entier et lui a permis d'être désignée comme l'une des nouvelles voix les plus originales de la pop. Entièrement autobiographique, simple et possédant le style Winehouse est un savant mélange entre de l'humour et de la soul.

Vivement influencée par les girl-group des 60', Amy Winehouse est tout autant capable de se lâcher avec des lignes vocales à la Aretha Franklin sur « Just Friends » ou en prenant le thème de la désintoxication pour en faire un gospel sur l'étourdissant premier titre de Back To Black, Rehab.

Armée comme toujours de sa seule guitare acoustique et d'une imagination débordante, Amy Winehouse s'est attelée à distiller en chanson ses expériences vécues depuis l'apparition de Frank. Pour Amy Winehouse, écrire des chansons, c'est comme tenir un journal, « C'est un exorcisme. Je fais tout sortir. Si je n'avais pas ce moyen d'expression pour transmettre mes expériences, je serais perdue ».

Dans Son opus, Back to Black, Amy Winehouse nous conte ses expériences, sa vie en musique, d'une voix si entraînante, que nul l'écoutant ne pourra s'en passer.
